Why a missed promotion isn’t always about you
We tend to assume that getting passed over for promotion means we weren't ready.
Sometimes that's true.
But sometimes the employee has developed faster than the company around them. They may already be operating at the next level while the organization lacks the scope, structure or budget to formalize the larger role.
